I'm under 65. Can I enroll?

Medicare is available for certain people under the age of 65 with disabilities.
  • You have been receiving social security disability for at least 24 months

  • You have Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)

Who is eligible for Medicare?

I’m retiring. When should I start Medicare enrollment?

As you approach retirement, it's important to check in with your employer's benefits or HR (human resources) department at least two months beforehand. Pay close attention to deadlines and be sure to keep a copy of your proof of credible coverage to avoid any penalties. It's crucial to plan your transition carefully to ensure a smooth process. I am already on Medicare, is there anything I need to do?

If you are already on Medicare you should:
  • Review your plan annually to ensure it still meets your needs.
  • Review you Annual Notice Of Changes (ANOC). Your private Medicare plan sends the letter out every year at the end of September.
  • Update any information: You should let Medicare and your agent know of any changes such as address, phone number or any other personal information.
  • Call your agent and schedule an appointment to go over changes.

I can’t afford my prescriptions. What are my options?

There are programs that can help.
  • Extra help (Low-income subsidy) This program will assist with your Medicare Part D.
  • Patient Assistance Programs (PAPs) offer free or discounted medication from pharmaceutical companies.
  • Medicare savings programs: helps with medicare costs, including premiums and prescriptions.
